Chuck Z comments all too briefly that it's all in the prep. I did a set of calipers for a buddy who insisted on paying me for working on his car. It took me days to get his old calipers properly prepped. I couldn't bring myself to charge him for all the time it really took.

Wow, Wheel Dynamics!! (not that the others aren't) but that is ART right there, beautiful.

Whilst we are on the subject, can anyone tell me what colour my calipers would have been from the factory? My car is Guards Red, the calipers are red, however I cannot find anything to suggest they left the factory in '79 this colour?

Stock 79 calipers would be plated in cadmium, not painted. That went up until 4 piston calipers in 1986 where they were all painted black.

Ah ok, blast!! All the bits I like may end up disappearing in getting her back to "original".

Maybe easier for me to find another untouched OB... Aw that's right my "parts car" is almost here...

Thanks for the reply.

Thank you sir!!!

Here is a pair that we did, the objective here was to match the paint and the texture to the originals, we were given two front new factory painted originals and were told to strip the black rears and match them to the fronts... how to you rate our work??

FACTORY ORIGINAL 6-PUC INSTALLED.

REAR CUSTOM REFINISHED TO MATCH THE NEW CALIPERS UP-FRONT.

Well quite frankly, 10/10 from what I see in the pics!!!! beautiful!!!

As a young fella I was taught to save and buy the best quality, it would endure all else...I always applaud craftsmen. These are craft.

So how would those beautifully painted calipers compare, cost wise, to the amazing looking powder coating on my S4 calipers?
