I used to think that but I really feel it's up on purpose. I don't want to say it's a poser move but I would like to know why some feel the need to have the wing deployed.
Maybe because they can??
Plausible deniability - if the wing extends at 70 mph the nice police officer knows how fast you are going. But you can always claim 'I drive with it like that all the time officer....'

Been pulled over a number of times in my Boxster and my Turbo and the position of the spoiler was not even mentioned. The radar gun reading is all that matters.
(Years ago I had something prepared to say just in case I was pulled over because the spoiler was up but I never had occasion to use it. Also, I used to when I was about to be pulled over unplug the V1 and remove it from the windshield and put it behind the passenger seat but stopped this. Later a few times when I was pulled over rather than the driver in another vehicle that was speeding I even pointed out I had the V1 and knew the speed trap was there sometimes a few miles away and the cops never reacted to the V1. (One elected to give me a warning after I convinced him I was *not* the speeder.))

I doubt most cops even worry about that or know what the speed and wing Up or Down relation is. Just those of us in the know.
When I installed my turbo rear deck, I fabbed up a fixed wing solution. I actually like the look of the wing lowered rather than its full deployed position. When I set the fixed height, I set it around .75" deployed. The only real reason was to have some clearance to clean the area between the deck and the wing.
You guys bought these cars because you thought they were "cool." Do whatever you want with the damn wing; it doesn't make you a poseur anymore than driving a 911 carerra on the street makes you a wannabe Porsche cup pro driver.
can we all agree to stop taking ourselves so seriously? I personally don't leave it up simply because I think it's coolest when it's going up and down at speed.
but yeah I think it overall looks cooler/better with spoiler up. So I just drive over 75 to ensure it stays there.
So much judgement...gheeesh...I keep hitting the button in mine but the factory aero still won't move..
What in the sweet Baby Jesus is THAT!?! Hysterical...

(Back when that commercial first came out, Jay Leno I believe - still on the air then - made a similar joke in his opening monologue, something to the effect of "have you seen that new Viagra commercial.... If it's still up after 4 hours I'm not calling my doctor - I'm calling everybody." Very funny...)
(And ya... I run mine on auto only. Don't think I've ever manually lifted it... To each his own. I do think it's especially dumb looking to have the wing deployed when the car is *parked*... But hey.. personal taste I guess.)

True but I work in automotive and this was specifically told to me by a designer for a major global OEM as to why they put this function into one of their cars. :-)
