Man if we all got a penny for every time we've seen these photos of your car, we'd all be filthy rich
They (pics of his RUF modded 997) never get old for me, plus gotta say he adds value in every post with his comments! Also the man has done nearly every mod known to man kind (or close to it) to his car so when people are asking questions about this or that Pete has usually done it, thought about it, looked into it, has some data on it to share (good data) or had it done prior but now has a different mod done to replace that mod etc...
Personally I'd get the smoke, and throw on some light window tint. Then, consider going what nwGTS did on his headlights (Lamin-X coating or something).

Thanks for the support, but I really wasn't worried about it. With 3,400 posts even if the same pics were in every single one, at a penny a-piece, it would only amount to $34 - not my definition of "filthy rich", but to each their own, plus
Type_LT, nice options and good looking car. Don't worry about your IMS in an '08 - you can't do anything about it anyway other than an engine teardown, but there have been virtually no failures of these late '05 on larger bearing cars when street-driven (2 failures I'm aware of on tracked larger bearing cars).
After a 3 stage paint restoration and nano ceramic coating
Your black paint looks about 100%, maybe 500% better than mine!
Could you point me to a DIY? (is this DIY possible?). Mine has swirl and scratch marks from someone that must have played volleyball on the beach with their claybar before using it on my car.

Thanks Petza! Yeah, I read nearly every page of the 997 "sticky" on IMS failures and came to the same conclusion (on about page 47 of the post )

So I must admit, I did not DIY this. Primarily due to time and not having the proper lighting/equipment/location--it's hard to restore paint on a car in an apartment parking garage. But it took this guy 3-days to complete to give you an idea of how much of a process this was.
However, I do believe that anything one human can do, another one can. SO it definitely is DIY-able. My car went through a 3-stage paint correction, steam cleaning for the undercarriage, wheel repair, interior steam detail, and nano ceramic coating. The shop I used actually makes all their own products in house to include the coating (I am actually buying his products to maintain my car) but any reputable brand of products would work (Meguires comes to mind). As far as detailing goes, I actually follow this guy on YouTube: AMMO NYC https://www.youtube.com/user/AMMONYCdotcom
He knows what he is talking about and I think his products are all good too. Watch a few of his vids and he will definitely point you in the right direction for all wash/car detailing needs.

My black was swirled/cloudy as well, so I bought the Meguiars DA power system kit (dual action drill attachment, pads, compound, polish, and wax), took a weekend to watch a lot of youtube videos on it, and got to work. Washed 2x, clay bar, wash again, mask trim, compound, polish, then wax 2x. Very happy with my results, and only $90 or so all-in (assuming you own a 2500rpm drill).
Touch up paint and wet sanding for rock chips and deep scratches is a different animal, I'll get to that next year maybe. But what paint is there looks great/deep/wet etc. Sure nothing can replace a pro, but I was very satisfied with my results, and for $90, it's worth a shot if you have few days.
Amazing you were able to do an entire car with that drill DA polisher system. I spent 10+ hours on my detail with a Flex 3401 and Rupes Nano using Menzerna polishes.
