Default System fault visit workshop light

2005 997.1 base. Absolutely zero issues in 30k miles besides a broken shifter cable. Drove to work no problem. Drove home no problem. Went to a lax game and a system fault visit workshop light came on. Absolutely no hesitation on start up or while running. Drives just fine. Used my code reader and it shows no codes stored. It is not a durametric tool though. Any ideas besides taking it in to the shop
Anything I could check visually?

a bad front control module/unit may also cause the light to come on.

Way too many issues but of the two lights I did have, one was gas cap and the other oil cap pr Mr. Brennan.

My gas cap was a little "crunchy" and looked a little worn at the seal. The oil cap was my own bone-headed fault.. I cross threaded it.

If you want to stop by my house tomorrow, Thursday eve in Gladwyne, I can pop on the Durametric for you and read the deep codes. Takes all of 10 mnts.

Dealers may charge $100+ just to read the darn thing. To be fair, Don Rosen usually "credits" this back to me if there is significant work.... at least they did many years ago... I haven't been there in a long time.

Peace

Mine turned out to be a loose oil cap and my cheepo reader cleared the code no problem. Odd that you don't have a code.

Just got the same light on my 997.2 C4S. Weird thing was that both driver and passenger side power windows stop working. Car started and drives fine. Recently had a battery changed.

Did you recently get your car waxed / detailed?

No waxed and detailed. Went to the car, opened the driver door. Interior lights off, window rolled down to the open position, closed the driver door, window never went back up to the close position. Start the car, system fault visit workshop warning came on. Both power windows non-operational.

Interesting - I would have thought these would have triggered the CEL rather than the Warning Will Robinson light.

Had this light checked out a Porsche and they said it's the frunk latch sensor or something to that effect. Costs about $650 to replace it unless anyone knows of an easy fix to bypass the sensor without this annoying light coming on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers!

For my 2009, it may be the "microswitch", item #9... If that is what it really is. I never saw that error message before.

Appears to be an $85-$100 part.... hard to tell if it is an easy DIY, but I would tackle it before I would take it in. But then I like breaking stuff.

Peace

The sensor, or switch looks like the little thing to the left... it appears to be a common unit I have replaced in my Boxster before..... was white and and 1" or so long. You may want to just hunt for it and shoot some CRC or something in there to lubricate it before replacing it. I would start by taking off the trim piece #13. The middle thing looks like a body plug where the cable passes through a body panel, and the thing on the right looks like a pieceofsomethingorother.
