Like. But not the headlights. Then again I'm an old guy that got to hang out in the shop at a Porsche dealership before there was a 911. The 2.2 S was the aesthetic peak to me.

I like it--except for the headlights and wheels.

Tough crowd.

QUICK THREADJACK:
I assume none of you own this one - but if you know the guy who does, would you have him PM me? I want a ride in it.

I wanted to like this. I like the concept of it. But it doesn't work somehow here.

I saw on FB some time ago a guy "Steve Chou" who has backdated his 997 and I think it looks great. The lights look a little big and beetle-like but otherwise the whole concept is a great idea. Thought I might share it for those who haven't seen it. I think he is also prepring to sell the parts. Looks like a massive job. Check his site for yourself if you are interested:

the shape of the fenders is reminiscent of singer, could do with fewer lines, but a great silhouette .....!

Nobody was bashing him. I think it's great that he built it with his own hands. That doesn't mean everybody has to like what he built. I don't like it.

Lots of threads on that one since SEMA. Front isn't terrible, although they really should have made the fender paint match the hood. Liberty Walk rear style flares are a disaster and the whole rear end treatment looks like they ran out of time. Someone needs to produce a widebody kit similar to the Champion prototype car - that one was tasteful & awesome.

Its better than 4th generation Camaros backdated to 1969 style. I used to see them at shows when I had my 98 Camaro SS. The attached Camaro looks like a 69 Camaro had a love child with a 63 Advanti. Yikes! The individual parts have the flavor of the original, but when they are all blended together with the modern vehicle you end up with a Frankenstein style mess.

I can appreciate the commitment of blood, sweat, and $ to mod that 997 though. If the owners happy with the results, to each his own.

wouldn't Fuchs be more appropriate on a retro car? that rear bumper looks like melted marshmallow near the exhaust.

This is what I am
Waiting for. A wide body kit that resembles
The champion rsr car build ....someone needs to
Build it. Liberty walk kit is a train wreck.

The retro back date imo is super neat for what it is....
