Here are some pics of the OE Porsche wooden kit that is on my 924S now. The wood veneer quality is amazing and there are no scratches as the set was MISB from 1987 (!) . It is quite dark and blend very niocely with the rest of the interior and much better than the plastic areas especially this piece of cloth around the gear lever

It fits your style and that's what matters, also if I make an abstraction of my personal tastes and preferences on my own car, this actually looks good.

I don't care for wood, but I do agree it looks better than the carpet! Wood interiors make me think more of Rolls Royce, Bentley, etc.

Porsche is not that type of car, and I kinda don't like where the newer cars are going to fancy.

Anyways I think it looks good!

In America, I do not believe any of these were offered direct from Porsche.

I do remember seeing some lying about in the Porsche Dealership's boutique area in glass counter cases, and especially remember the photos of these in Automobile Atlanta and Midwest catalogues back in the day. It was quite expensive and an aftermarket item if I recall, and not a real offering from Porsche.
Your mileage may vary in other parts of the world.

^ Maybe not for the 924/944 group, but rootwood (light and dark versions) was a factory Porsche option for the 968.

I remember a 968 cabriolet which came into our local dealership when this was available and had a dark interior but a light rootwood selection. It was an Amazon green car so a bit of a blue green hue. It was stunning..... and I remember thinking quickly, just how well will that wood panel trim hold up in constant exposure to U/V ?


And yes, the changes were many and somewhat distant in the 968 , a car which Porsche initially considered calling the Series 3, but changes were so advanced in some ways, they did decide to give it a different numerical model # to differentiate. Hence the car we know today as the 968.

There were other pieces of trim which were also available were there not, on the 968, quite different from the earlier 4 cyl, cars ? I know there were a few more cars which came with distinct color palette availabilities as well as full leather trim options. It has been a VERY long time since I saw a full leather interior turbo or S2, but it seems as the price scaled upward, the type of folks who ordered these new series of cars out were a bit more free to spend the extra money on special colors, options, and a boatload of things previously not seen in the buyers of 924, 944, or 951 cars.

Do you have any idea how many were outfitted with full leather interiors or special wood option trims Jay ?
