Default Louder horn for 911

So the other day I was driving on the highway. The car next to me decided to move into my lane with me. I leaned on the horn and stomped the brakes. No reaction from the other car. Like they didn't hear anything. Our horns don't seem to be that loud. Has anyone changed to a new horn that gets a reaction from other cars?

The Hella Supertones are popular upgrades. Although Hella also makes air horns, these are electric.

I was surprised that a search didn't turn up anything on Rennlist, but a search on Pelican will find several threads.

I have the Hella Supertones in my daily, mounted right behind the grill, shooting forward. I use them to get the attention of dumb ***** on a daily basis.

I've been thinking of putting some on the Carrera because I too have had situations were sitting on the horn did nothing to correct another driver's DA driving.

Nowadays, with all of these asshats driving around with their earbuds in blasting music, short of a train horn, they are not going to hear you regardless. Defensive driving is a must in all situations. I now drive my cars like I once rode motorcycles - I assume they never ever see me.

I tried to fit a set of air horns but couldn't find enough room behind the bumper. Ended up with these in the stock location.

1. Agreed...too many numb nuts who are oblivious to anything outside their phone (that is clearly smarter than they). A horn is NOT any kind of fix.

2. Agreed...active and defensive driving is the real solution. A louder horn will only make you feel better, but will likely go unnoticed.

3. Riding motorcycles for decades had made me a much safer driver (in any car that I'm in) because my life depended on my attention. Drive like it really matters, seriously.

Get a loud horn if it makes you feel better. But that's about all you'll get, IMHO

^ I've honked at someone drifting into my lane, and they heard it and corrected. So I will respectfully disagree with your last line.

1.2.3 --
I agree it's not always effective, and I agree totally about being a mindful, aware, open-eyes driver. But having a loud horn can save your life too; sometimes (especially with four wheels), you have no place to go.

I think most bike riders in here have the right idea

Assume everyone is trying to kill you

Never sit in someone's blind spot
Accelerate or brake into another lane , never just drift over as you could float into a blind spot
They can't hit you if you let them go first
Assume the guy in front is going to hit something and stop faster than his brakes
Never assume the guy making a right turn in front of you actually turns and look up
The street
Always make sure you can see 2-3 cars up
Have a loud exhaust

expect the guy behind you to crush your expensive engine

expect some farmer to have dumped a load of rocks or nails and wood on the corner you are about to hit

expect a huge moving van to have illegally entered a very twisty and restricted scenic road and to be blocking both lanes on the blind corner you are about to enter, which BTW has no shoulder, just rocks and forest next to the blocked lane...

defensive driving is the better advice, always be alert to the cars around you... if your inclined to spend your money, get brights tails lights i.e.. LED bulbs or a louder exhaust i.e.. bypass piping to delete muffler would give a nice growl

I've got the factory twin trumpets They're electrical - not air driven.

They not very loud - but they're correct.

Here's the correct orientation for the horns.
