Default Heat Shield love

Thanks to 928ITL, I picked up 2 solid heat shields...

A little clean up, and things start to change slightly...
The original cadmium coating is toxic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadmium_poisoning) and extreme caution is needed when manipulating the original cad plating. I usually don't clean cad parts unless I have a windy day, full outside-the-garage process, with gloves, respirator (not just a dust mask) and face shield. Then I really clean the parts carefully. maybe overkill? I dunno. cough-cough-cough...

I had some leftover adhesive heatshielding from my firewall rehab, and cut it to shape...

Lots of cleaning, high temp adhesive, and simply laid over the in-place insulation...

High temp clearcoat paint on the shiny surfaces, drying and then ready to go.

Good reminder on the cadmium. Cleaning them in a bath would be safest - but then the water is toxic tea. Looks really good with the clear coat. Does it not yellow or change color near high heat?

Thanks, Seth ! !

Jon,
Not sure yet how the high temp clearcoat will hold up.
My thought is that surface prep will end up playing a big role... tried to get everything as residue-free and clean as possible.

I have basically coated all my semi-shiny or lustrous parts with it. I am really interested to see how it will hold up on the spider, especially.
I spent waaaay too much time polishing those intake runners LOL...
