Hello everyone, I had a series of engine faults lately that caused my dashboard to light up and my throttle to become delayed. I took it to my local shop and they found the problem. There were a couple of DME harness plugs were not seated correctly because the tabs had broken off. They reconnected them and the car ran fine.
While they were in there, they found an aftermarket module that had been spliced in to the DME wiring. That was probably why the tabs of the other DME harness plugs were broken, whoever spliced this in did a bit of a hack job. The mystery is what exactly this aftermarket module does, as it has no real markings, apart from what looks like " CP 103" stamped on the side. The only other clue is that the car was originally form Arizona. Apart from that we have no idea what this module is, or what it does. Has anyone seen this before and can you identify it?
CP-013 is the part number for the socket connector. Looks like someone rigged up a socket connector with a circuit board. I would identify the color coded wires that have been tapped into and make a list, then compare it to the wire connectors for the DME/ECU. That way you will at least be able to determine what was tapped into. Give us a list of the color coded wires going to that socket and I'll help determine what they are for on the DME/ECU. Do not assume the color coded wires on the harness match the DME/ECU wires tapped into. Determine the actual color coded wires tapped into on the DME/ECU and which specific harness connector to the DME/ECU was tapped.
You can see from this that every wire is color coded and has a specific function:
I have a suspicion that you are going to find that there are no components on that circuit board apart from the actual receptacle socket, and that it just interconnects wires. Why is a good question. You can probably work out the connectivity by using a bright light...you can already see some of it in your second photo.

The epitome of (stereotypical) German engineering!
