New Owner 2017 Cayenne S
My first post. White 2017 S and it just reached 97 miles! OK, this is my first Porsche and in reading through the topics I sense there just may be some "issues" for me in the future. That's an understatement huh!?!
Couple of comments and questions:
1. What should I look out for as the miles and operating hours accumulate? If you took a Cayenne S for a ride what would you be listening for and what would you be trying to determine from that test drive?
2. Is there a way to permanently turn OFF the Start/Stop feature? BMW allow code changes - what about Porsche?
3. Are there any specific preventive measures which you've found to be of value? I do used oil analysis on all my vehicles and change oil and filter frequently.
4. My Owners Manual calls for 0W30 or 5W30 regardless of ambient temperature. It appears Porsche up until just recently called for 5W40 in the V6 turbo. Could Porsche have changed recommended viscosity just for improved efficiency and fleet mileage, and if so do owners use 0W40 or 5W40 even in the newer Cayennes?
5. Anything else a brand new owner should know?
It seems like a very solid, stable and fast car, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Thank You!

2. That's what a call to a dealer should tell you. I don't know, myself.
3. Follow the warranty service intervals religiously.
4. Use either, but only what is recommended so as to avoid warranty issues if you do have a problem. As long as you follow Porsche's recommended service and oil change procedures you are golden.
5. Enjoy and have fun.

Thank you all for the welcome and the information. I was wrong - the Owners Manual calls for either 0W40, 5W40, or 5W50 in the Cayenne S model (it's the Cayenne Diesel which uses 0W30).
I'll take more pictures soon, and need to get a 911 now that I've got the sports car bug. Also need to think about some wheels come next Spring as these just don't do it for me, but they do make a good snow wheel/tire set.

I initially used 0W40 in my 2014 CS, but last service went with 5W40, and oil consumption seems to have improved. Owners manual specifies both. My CS has the NA V8.
I've had mine for about three years now, and I really like it. Came out of a 2004 BMW X5 which was good, but didn't hold up very well. Time will tell on the CS. My 911 has been solid as a rock for over 31 years, so I hold out hope for longevity. Mike

I went with this set up on my 16' and kept the OEM 19" for back up/Winter
