As we all know, the early 90's were financially tumultuous for Porsche. The upside for us enthusiasts is that a large number of small production examples were built, probably more than at any other time.
So, for a bit of fun before kickoff of Sunday Night Football, which one is the most lustful and why? I'm referring only to factory-built cars here, nothing aftermarket or modified. And let's keep it to anything other than a pure racecar (so leave out the RSR but include something like a RS NGT).
Looking forward to some good reading fellow members!
Can not be registered for the road, no VIN just serial number.
I couldn't agree more ultimate Porsche - but if is cannot be registered for street use counts as a race car right???
My other choice would be one of the 45 USA Cup series cars that never made it onto the track. Closest thing to a true RS variant stateside (i know I may get some hate from the RSA fans but a de-contented C2 does make not a RS)

More a rally spec car, and two of my friends have used theirs on the street on temp tags.
All but a handful were converted back to stock before being sold at dealers. One I know of was reconverted by Andial to USA Cup spec. It was a full track car. Sold to Japan about a year ago.
So a good story car but no longer special unless converted back to Andial spec.
I am fortunate to be the caretaker of the 964 I most lust after, the Leichtbau. Even parked alongside other Porsche greats, it is simply a very special car. I have also driven the 964 3.8 RS, albeit briefly, and the Leichtbau just has an extra edge, an additional level of refinement, although others may prefer the 3.8's extra dosage of raw.
And amazing build quality. Over the decade or so of my ownership, not a single problem with the Leichtbau.
I've owned 3 C4's (one wide body) and C2 targa. I am also very lucky to own one of the Andial converted (2X) Carrera Cups- car is incredible, basically a US spec RS NGT or a street legal Cup car. Only 45 built and was essentially a 964 RS smuggled (disguised) into US by the Porsche factroy. How do you beat the rarity and story.
