Took a trip to the new LA Porsche Experience to (pics attached) and took a run in one of their GT4s. I really enjoyed the visit. The experience is broken into a series of driving skill modules which they have you try, with and without traction, to see the difference in the help you get from the car.
1. Polished Skid Pad – This is a polished concrete surface which they wet with soapy water, you can smell it inside the car, but it is fun.
2. Kick Plate – This is on a urethane covered surface that is wet and flat. The kick plate spins the back end of the car to test control skills
3. Ice Hill – The Ice Hill is the same wet urethane surface down a hill at a 15 degree angle, then into a 90 degree J-turn.
4. Polished Concrete Circuit – This is a very short set of turns on a polished concrete surface that is technical and slippery.
5. Auto-X – This involved two items a high-speed lane change and a short slalom course.
6. High-Speed Straight – This is as the description says about a 1/3 mile straight with a Nurburgring like carousel at one end.
7. 1.3 Mile Circuit – very short, but technical circuit course, never got above 3 gear, but good turns, tight hairpins and nice work on braking points.
They provide a single instructor for the entire session, no boring ground school, just right to the car and driving. I had a great instructor, his name was Kyle, ask for him if you can.
My dealer got us some passes for a couple of events (TT v. GT3 and mid v. rear engine).
Thought it was ok, track layout was a bit cramped, seat time was too limited. Very nice time touring the grounds and Restaurant 917 makes a pretty darn good creme brulee.
Enjoyed my time, but would not go if I had to spend my own dime.
Wow, they brought the 919 there? Wasn't there when I visited before, but if it's there now I'd love to bring my boy to have a look. He's infatuated with the car.

The 919 is a prop, just a heads up. Might still be cool for him.
