Default Brake fluid reservoir - updated part?

I replaced my brake fluid reservoir and noticed the nipple going to the clutch slave is in a different place. Old part location:

New part location:

My hose is now no longer long enough. That's not a big deal, but is this supposed to be this way? The old part seemed like it has 2 chambers. Is this newer part an updated part or something?

The reservoirs are for two different models of 944. Make sure you have ordered the correct one for your year and model.

Looking at it again, yeah the early one is different. Is it ok to use the late part in the early car? It seems like the old one was more 'level' but maybe this is just part of the design of the late 944 part.

Edit: just looked and it seems like the early part (477611303B) is NLA... cleaning up my old one in the dishwasher to see how bad it really is

The 944 at some point used one of 2 brake boosters and one of 2 master cylinders (to match the booster)...brands ATE or Girling.

Guessing that one reservoir is for ATE and one for Girling.

That said, if the fluid ports to the cylinder line up I'd just use it...the barb moves like an inch forward.

Yeah it popped right in. If I can track down a new early one for the right price I'll use it and throw this one on the 951
