Default New Wheels - New Look!

Picked up some used 21'' Turbo Wheels (OEM) in black. Here's a before and after!

If anyone wants the 20'' Spyder set I took off: https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...-for-sale.html

You know it!!

I actually have a big cosmetic project coming up for the car. I'm removing all of the textured / chrome trims and either getting them painted to match the car's paint or replacing them with suncoast parts that come in gloss black.

I did find a reputable bodyshop that is familiar with the extra prep work required for painting textured parts and they are guaranteeing their work.

Originally I was going to get the sportdesign package which comes prepped to be painted but 2 things stopped me
1) I didn't want to sacrifice my ground clearance (though I don't do any serious off roading anyway)
2) the sportdesign package didn't seem to change much in the ways of appearance, most of the difference just comes from having a trim that matches the exterior paint

So I figured the extra labor to prep and paint textured parts is cheaper than buying, painting, and installing the sportdesign kit that I wasn't completely sold on.

Do you have any pictures from the back? curious how the tires look without the arches?

are you thinking of installing the turbo arches or the gts arches?

Not right now, I'll take a picture tomorrow morning to show you.

I didn't realize there were different options for wheel arch extensions, this is the only one I know of: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/958WAE.html

Are there different kinds??

I think it's either the extended arch, standard with 21 inch wheels, or the sport design bits which are what you get with a gts. Either direction is available from Suncoast. The gts are non textured iirc although you seem to have found a work around for that.

Looking forward to seeing the results!

Me too, thanks! I'm getting the primered version for that piece since the price difference between the black textured and the smooth (paint-ready) primered version is not high enough to justify the extra cost of prepping a textured piece.

here's a picture of what i thought were the gts arches (have mainly seem them on the GTS cayennes)

http://photos.stuttcars.info/upload/...usive-1202.pdf

see pdf page 3 vs page 5. the rear arches on page 3 have a part that also goes over the rear door.

kind of like this

Interesting, I'll do some more research to see what I've been looking at and what I want. Thanks for that!

No difference in comfort but I do notice that there is SOOO MUCH MORE GRIP!!!

The difference between the 275 and 295 on each corner is night and day. I haven't compared the brand of tires to see if one is known to have more grip than the other, but it's generally been my experience that wider tires are usually the single best way to improve handling.

The steering wheel is a bit heavier, noticeable at very low speeds. Just an observation, not negative/positive for me.

So this is the one you are talking about on the GTS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNMq...ature=youtu.be

And I guess this is the one I was going to get

I think it's a no brainer, even if they are both painted the same color I think you get more flare with the GTS (Sportdesign) one.

Only problem is that I don't see it having an independent part number, unless I'm wrong it seems like you might have to buy the whole sport design package to get it like that.
