Default Part number nomenclature... is there a method to the madness ?

Hi !

For the sake of knowledge/education.....

Is there any "meaning" to be found in the part number?
Obviously, there is the "928" prefix to many parts I end up needing, but I am curious as to whether there are other information to be found in the part numbers..

For example (and purely hypothetically), does finding the digits "XXY" in a PN mean those parts with "XXY" belong to the braking system.... while finding the digits "ZZX" mean that the part belongs in the suspension system?

I simply wonder if there is a code here to de-code.

Thanks !

Slightly incomplete. Be aware that RHD only parts START with 927. A complete RHD car's part number starts with 927.
