Default Favorite MXL2 Pages

My MXL2 setup is about 70% installed but I haven't powered it on yet. I could, but I wanted to get close to 90% done before I do.

In the mean time, I would love to see what your favorite MXL2 pages look like. What are you using for qualifying? For races? For practice? To look at all your sensors?

Air-cooled setups would be especially great to see.

My dash will be logging the built-in stuff plus:

RPM
Throttle Position
Oil Temperature
Oil Pressure
Lambda
Brake Pressure
Steering Angle

I am looking forward to seeing what you all like to see!

Less is more. Drivers have not much time to assimilate info so keep it simple.

I follow the MoTeC templates for page construction. Start and warmup with engine health, qualifying with timing info (+/-) front and center and race info with ONLY what I need to know.

I use a fair number of conditional alarms as alerts, to keep the clutter to a minimum.

Yes, I like that, Jeff! Thanks!

Since my car is air-cooled, I would substitute water temp with oil temp.

I could see Jeff's page, or one very similar, as the page I use 95% of the time. My plan is to use conditional alarms, as Peter does, to keep clutter down. I don't really need to see voltage, oil temperature, oil pressure, or lambda. I just need to know if there is a problem with one or more of those. I do like to see oil temperature so I know when the engine is warmed up.

For oil/water temp, I have a warning light that is blue when its cold, off if normal, yellow at the top end and then red if bad.

This is the basic screen I use most of the time. I have the oil and trans temps along with oil pressure. I like to use +/- best lap more than predictive so don't have to think about it much. I figure plus is slower and - is faster.

The other screen is a screen I'll use when stopping or getting ready to go out. It's sort of an informational/diagnostic screen. Brake temp info is interesting and can help with heat soak. Track temp is an important variable. The satellite number is also informational and diagnostic.

I have a similar scheme for alarms. I also use the blue cold, yellow hot, red too hot method. One difference is that I like to put items that need immediate attention on one side of the dash. So, oil pressure, lambda, fuel pressure, etc go on one side so you know they are serious. Then temps go on the other. This lets you quickly identify how important the alarm is and if you need to stop right away.

Also, for things like oil pressure, you can have multiple alarms on one light. So you can do oil pressure of 10 pounds over 1000 rpm. Then do 30 pounds over 3000 rpm, and 45 pounds over 4000 rpm. That way you are not limited to just a minimum, but have something appropriate for each rpm area.

Why can't the spot that Jeff uses for water temp be used for rolling time or for any other lap field other than lap number? Is that going to change any time soon?

The MXL2 has a fixed portion of the display, plus the dot matrix display in the right corner.

The fixed portion only supports certain fields in certain locations because there aren't the characters (like to support time in some locations.

I realize that unit is in demo mode. But still, if they could do it in demo mode they could do it for us too. Again, I wouldn't mind use periods as separators between minutes and seconds to get this functionality. What I don't care about is the track map option on the right.
