Isn't a 4 door 996 known as a Panamera?

Heh. 4 seats, not doors. Multitasking allows you to do more things - poorly - concurrently.

Props for digging up the 4-door 996 prototype pics - I haven't seen those for a year or two.

Of course we don't know your driving history, but could it be they just didn't want to say no to you individually?

You only really get to "know" your Insurance Company when you have a no fault claim......
Avoid Costco/ Ameriprise !

Good record - the phone rep was very clear that they would not accept me as a client due to the fact that I drive a Porsche

thanks for for all the feed back on insurance companies

Independent Insurance Agency owner here.

I dissolved our contract and rolled my book with Hartford years ago. There were some fine people who worked for them, but they seemed to have no clear goals and made drastic changes every six months. It does not surprise me one bit.

Insurance is regulated at the state level. There is a good chance Hartford is trying to get the the insurance commission of your state to agree to certain exclusions or caps, making Porsche owners a pawn in the negotiation.

Most of my carriers have restriction's on certain vehicle types or high value vehicles. One example being a 200K Bentley requires a phone call to the underwriter for them to OK.... Usually the underwriter cannot OK this alone, it requires a phone call to the insurance companies reinsurer. The other typical example, the one I see most often from a carrier that only insures "preferred standard" (No accidents, high credit score, multi lines) is a new jeep wrangler for the youthful driver. I have seen this particular company squash more than one 16 year old's dreams of getting the cool car for his/her daily driver. It makes sense, one young driver in a hot car, especially with high limits can trash a loss ratio for that year.

Just call around, there should be two or three quality carriers that will be close in rate that you can choose from.
