Default measurement request: Diameter of garrett CHRA where the hotside meets the center

Can anyone who has a garrett/precision/turbonetics/LR super series turbo measure the outer diameter of the center section where the hotside joints it, or it you just have a garrett or replica kkk hotside could you measure the ID of the hotside opening on the CHRA side?

Found this image, its a mitsubishi BEP housing made for a garrett center, shows 72.04mm ID. Is that correct? That doesn't jive with me, as I thought the garrett t3/t04 center section was ~80mm OD where the hotside attaches.

This is a Turbonetics replica #8 to fit a Garrett CHRA. I have a Precison hot side but I'm not sure measuring it will do you any good.

I do cool things with turbos... After I finish my current billet hybrid 60-1 /F1-62 I'll make one out of a Holset HX35. Pics of a billet hybrid K26/8 because everyone loves shiny things.

Very nice!! E-man, can you eleborate on your plans for a garrett/hx35 hybrid? It seems like kne would need to turn down the holset center section ~5mm to make it fit the hotside and potentially also some minor machining to the inducer side of the hotside. The hotside in question is a reproduction kkk #8/.63 machined for a garrett stage 5/T350 turbine.

Can't elaborate until I get the hard parts and make my own measurements...

Your pictures wouldnt all load at first but now they are. That hybrid looks VERY cool. Should make some great power and spool well. Thanks so much for taking the time to take those and post em.

I'm going to post the measurements for the Precision hot housing tonight since it is available new from them. The scroll is vastly larger than the replica housings. We may have stumbled onto something here...

To be clear, you are referring to a standard precision T3 hotside? Not one with a kkk bolt pattern? I'd be interested if the ID is the same as the replica housing; I'd assume it would have to be. The note on the larger scroll is important. The garrett housings clearly flow better than the replicas. This is obvious from physical examination and from dyno charts.

I have had an interest in a bolt on HX35 for a long time now; converting the exhaust to T3 is the best way forward no doubt; but finding a way to adapt the turbonetics replica housings to the holset would represent a significant cost savings with comparatively little loss in performance.

Nope the Precisions K26 replica hotside. Take a look... It is machined to only fit on their conical CHRA but I believe it I can machine it to fit a Garrett CHRA. That project won't be up until I finish my current Turbonetics 60-1 Billet Hybrid so please be patient with me. If you still want measurements I will be happy to oblige.

wow i had no idea they made one. That helps explain how guys bolt on precision turbos. Do their CHRA bolt to the stock mount?

Yes they do and they are oil cooled only. This is the hotside I plan on using for my HX35 billet hybrid monster turbo project in the near future.

E-man, would you mind doing a rough mock up using the turbonetics hotside, assuming you have an hx35 laying around and your hotside is for a stage 5 whee? I'm about to pull the trigger on a new production #8/stage 5 hotside. I want to be sure the required material removal can be accomplished at home, when you start factoring in machining costs it starts to make more sense to look at true garrett hotsides and swapping the exhaust to T3 flanges. Trying to keep this low cost as possible.

edit: Can you also confirm for me that the turbonetics T3/T4 CHRA's have the same dimensions with respect to where the hotside attaches as the garretts; IE a garrett turbo would fit a turbonetics hotside? I guess thats redundant since all the bolt on garretts for our cars use the turbonetics hotsides. Just want to make sure before I drop $230 dollars.

Did you call Turbonetics to see if they still make / stock the replica K26 hot housings? Turbonetics / Garrett have the same dims. I do not currently have a Holset HX35 amd may get the HX40 instead when the time comes.
