Thanks for the compliment....and glad they help! I have it all back together with the exception of wheels and bumper cover. Cranked it up and no explosion...so that is good. I took photos, so can likely get a DIY together by appending an existing one to the point of removing and replacing WP.

Take care,

Mine was replaced a couple years ago about 5 years, ~30K miles. Extended warranty paid for it, fortunately, as the dealer invoice was $2,900.

Thanks for sharing! Nice to see that lowering the engine is possible as a DIY.

Water pumps are funny, I'm starting to think that there are just some good and bad ones. The predecessor of my turbo (and m roadster) supposedly ate water pumps like clockworks at 30-50k miles. Mine is at ~110k now (passed on to a friend), and still on the original pump. It's one of the things that taught me not to go nuts with the "while you have it apart" items. If the part is good, you may well be throwing out a part that'll live longer than the one you put in.... (Or not, some stuff just blows up no matter what.)

If you do a DIY document, will you also post it here?

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-turb...eedonline.html

I have it bookmarked for reference.

I would make the recommendation to add a fastener to the bracket as soon as you remove the engine brace. The water pump bracket will separate from the intermediate shaft drive for the turbocharger scavenge pump and tear the oring. The result is a oil leak.

Picture from the Factory Repair Manual.

Thanks...I was careful and/or lucky, but good info to include if/when I write a DIY up.

Appreciate it.
