Default I've been dreaming of a car,

A GTR ever since I first laid my eyes on one. It's taken awhile to be in position to buy one, but I'm there. I've been through a lot of cars, I like to try as many as I can. Well, I have an old '02 TT 996 with 25k miles on the clock and can't seem to let it go. My friend has a real nice GTR for sale, but I love the looks and ride of my 911. I don't think there's any way I'll ever sell my car. The guys that know me say, "yeah sure we've heard that before" I honestly mean it this time. Even after driving the GTR I just can't do it. I have to thank a guy from 6speed. A lot of things he posted about stuff he didn't care for, I found myself agreeing with what he was saying.

Well, here's my old TT 911 I'm going to hang onto for awhile.
It's beautiful right? Not looking for reassurance or acceptance, just sharing some love for my car.

It is beautiful, and classy, a timeless design, effortlessly elegant.

Whereas, and no offense to your dream car, it may be a marvel of engineering, but the GTR looks like ****. I wouldn't want one if they gave them away for free.

Thanks, I like the looks of the GTR's tail and the cool electronics in the cabin. Driving it wasn't as much fun I guess would be the best way to describe it. The car is fast no doubt about it.

GTR is a beast no doubt about that, but so is a viper or a Z06. Great cars register with us on an emotional level and having "that" car although silly to most is real and visceral to us. Your 996 tt is a friend...a good friend who won't let you down, will always impress, and will always make you look back no matter where you park it.

You want a gtr then get a gtr, but that great old friend will always be just that.

(Keep the 996tt it's not a car that one just replaces)

Foreground says it all. Ask RMC he sold a pristine 996 tt and regrets it everyday.

Atrox the 996tt is a great car but selling mine was a very smart move and I was tired of it= no regret period. Would consider another but would have to be vey unique.

+1/2, I'd take a free one.

Have never driven a GTR but they look big, and at 3800lbs, I'd imagine feel less nimble. All 911's make you feel close to the road with a hood that drops away in front of you rather than a big hood to look over.

Please don't sell that beauty!!!!!

Just wait awhile.....if it's a GTR you want it might be wise to wait until prices take their next drop......it won't be long.

Funny story...My friend who was the director of design at Nissan at the time when the GTR was in development did not approved with the design, including 80% of the design team felt the design was horrible. Do to deadline they had to live with it. Till this day they all still felt the design is ugly. They always had two 911 turbo as a bench mark to followed the GTR mule one in front and back. At least the design team knows what is good design.

Your car is gorgeous and 1000x better looking than a GTR, which is really just a complicated video game anyway. Buy Forza for PS 3 and get your Nissan kicks there, but keep this beauty forever.

I worked with a guy who loaned me his GTR - as much as I wanted. I didn't want it much. It's competent, but uninvolving. It's a cliche to say it "lacks soul," but that's an apt description.

I'm keeping it, the only car that could one day take it's place would be an '09 or newer turbo 911.
I retire in 3.5 years a newer 911 will be a gift to myself. I need to drive my car more often. It's never been dirty enough to use soap and water to wash it. If it looks like rain I leave it in the garage.. Keep telling myself it's not going to melt, it's not going to melt go drive.
