Default Fabspeed Highlight: BMC F1 Replacement Air Filters

FABSPEED MOTORSPORT is one of the largest BMC distributors in the US. We carry an enormous inventory of filters and have access to any filter you may need! Hands down this is the best option for an OEM replacement filter!

We get lots of questions about BMC filters, so we wanted to take a quick moment to give some background on the product.

BETTER THAN OEM FILTERS
-OEM paper filters present an elevated resistance to the passage of air and consequently a reduction in engine performance. Compared to a paper filter the BMC air filter permits a notably higher air flow passage.

-Thanks to the combination of the different oiled layers, containment of all impurities is guaranteed as far as 7 microns, while paper filters generally require total filtration of particles as small as 10 microns.

-BMC air filters let more air into the engine while still protecting it better than paper ones.

-Traditional paper filters must be replaced regularly during routine maintenance whilst the BMC air filter is reusable and has a general life-span equal to that of the vehicle.

SEVERE TESTING
-BMC operates in a number of areas: automotive, racing, aerospace, nautical and industrial, according to the specific regulations and requirements of each and every one of this sectors.

-The technical solutions used by BMC are derived from the results of a continuous and intense programme of laboratory tests. BMC carries out filtration tests in reference to the international standards for filtering (ISO 5011).

ECOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICAL
-BMC air filters are made of cotton, a natural material which can be reused several times after been washed with a special detergent and re-soaked in oil, thus saving the cost of changing it every time the vehicle is serviced and reducing wastes for the environment.

WINNER IN ALL CATEGORIES
-BMC Air Filters are by far the most successful filters in every sports category, since they equipped the champions of:
Formula 1 (9 titles)
American Le Mans (10 titles)
Le Mans 24Hours (11 titles)
DTM (9 titles)
Superbike (2 titles)
AMA Superbike (1 Title)
Suzuka 8 Hours (1 title)

Feel free to PM me or email me for inquiries!

Anthony,
Is Fabspeed running a special sale price on BMC filters; or are you just letting RL folks know that you still offer this product?

We unfortunately are not running a special on the BMC Air Filter at the moment. I occasionally highlight products that we offer to inform everyone what products that we do have and to give some information on the particular product. We are offering free shipping today for St. Patricks Day for any Domestic USA Orders.

Specifically how does this filter protect the engine better than a paper filter? What type of data or testing have you done to show this?

BMC carries out filtration tests in reference to the international standard ISO 5011. ISO 5011 establishes and specifies uniform test procedures, conditions, equipment, and a performance report to permit the direct laboratory performance comparison of air cleaners.

The basic performance characteristics of greatest interest are air flow restriction or differential pressure, dust collection efficiency, dust capacity, and oil carry-over on oil bath air cleaners. This test code therefore deals with the measurement of these parameters.

ISO 5011 is applicable to air cleaners used on internal combustion engines and compressors generally used in automotive and industrial applications.

Feel free to read more about ISO 5011 here:

Thanks, that's interesting to know. The common opinion that I have heard from many people is that these style of oil-based cloth filters (K&N, etc) don't filter as well as a paper filter. I bought a new paper filter recently for this reason.

The main issue that I've noticed with the oil based filters is that the user doesn't use the proper amount of oil and more importantly, doesn't give the filter enough time to dry after cleaning and oiling. Make sure that when using an oil base filter, you allow the filter to dry for 2-3 hours before installing the filter back into the vehicle. This can be pretty critical. The paper base / non oiled filters may just be easier to clean, but may not filter as well as a cotton base filter. It is very important to clean your filters properly whether it be paper or cotton base.

Whose got a dirty filter that could use a replacement? We are well into the spring driving season so now's a good time!
