Default Palos Verdes Cars n Coffee

Anyone heading to The Palos Verdes Cars n Coffee this Saturday? I was gonna go and I thought it'd be cool to meet up before so we can park together and represent the Porsche front-engine-water-cooled-V8-excluding-Cayennes.

I was talking about the pelican meet, but I don't know of any others, but I'm game for whatever. Just wanna put some mileage on the car and check out some others. Let me know if there's another CNC you were going to, I'll meet you there.

Be Warned. Only other 928 owners will talk to you. Everyone else will snub you for sure.

Not a snub, but more of a lashing: Last year me and my wife vacationed with some friends at a resort in Mexico. While walking by the pool, a guy commented on my 928 t-shirt :quote (Who would wear a 928 shirt?!). I responded " A 928 owner". He proceeded to tell me in a very "know it all" way that he was a Porsche mechanic in a town nearby my hometown, and he had just completed a full overhaul of a customers neglected (928GTS or S4, can't remember but negligible ). He mentioned the dash, seats, brakes, exhaust, A/c. It was weird, couldn't tell if he was bragging, or complaining. I remember feeling bad for his customer because there was no mention of WP/TB, fuel lines, flex plate , and the items I've come to know as critical on 928s. I sipped my Miami Vice frozen drink and politely nodded like a bobble head until he concluded his 928 semi-rant which left me with an impression of his attitude towards the 928 that I can only describe as (part) WTF was that?!", (part) that's awesome, (part) nah, I'll stick to 911s , 912s and 914s. I extended my condolences (hand shake and a cheers) and headed back towards the other end of the pool. I took off my shirt because who knows how many of these crazy "Porsche" people might be around. I needed to blend in so as not to be spotted by the air-cooled and outraged.

I ended up back with my friends in the pool and we discussed the benefits of V8s in Porsches, Chevys, Jeeps, Fords, Buicks, and Pontiacs and how transaxles really are the way to go. Nobody in that group is offended by front placement water cooled engines. Many more frozen drinks were consumed. Weird

Anyhoo, There are some local cars and coffees in Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach but I want to put some miles on my car too so I thought it'd be cool to go to the Pelican CNC, it's about 40 miles each way and I've never been. I hear Magnus is there sometimes, and word on the streets is he is not a snubber.

Definition:
Snubalicious - unmistakably snubable because you don't own a Porsche with a rear mounted air-cooled engine.

Snubaphobia - the fear of being snubbed by air-cooled Porsche owners.

My comments were all in jest, caused by another thread. I've never encountered anything negative towards my 928 at any event I've taken it too.

Me too, aside from the guy in Mexico, I've only gotten compliments so far, but for me the exercise is about going to see other cars and meeting some folks, not really displaying mine. Nothing too special (to others) about a DYI wrapped stock '83. Fun to drive though.

Someone who prefers 8 up front instead of 6 in the rear.
