This car w/ 235/40 & 285/30 MPSC on oe Speedlines needed the drivers side rear fender lip modified, as did several similarly setup 993s that I have seen
to those that run wider rears w/ stock fronts, understeer increases whether you feel it or not, if that's what you want fine but most want less understeer
They are fine on my 97 NB
I am using 265 40 now worked well and Fit the wheel wells]

If u r Matching Front Super Sports - Check the DOT Production Dates before you match up New Rears - I read here recently Super Sports are on their way out??

So if you have fresh and Deep Fronts you may want to aquire Two Pair of Rears

Thanks, is your 97 lowered? I am running bilstein b8 with HR springs. It looks like I would have no issues with the fronts using 235/40s?
Btw, I did test the 285/30 on my car and didn't notice any rubbing, but I also didn't drive it hard as it has a nail in it. Is there an easy way test if I will have rubbing issues. Hard to tell by eyesight as I am not really sure how low it would compress under hard driving or going over a bump. Maybe lift the car and put a brick under the rear tire? Any suggestions on how to confirm rubbing without taking it for hard drive?

Easiest solution and most enjoyable... Go hit a few hard turns. :-) :-)
Realistically, if you have upgraded suspension you should be able to tell if it's going to hit anything. Remember the wheel tilts in slightly when going up when you drive. You also most likely have Negative camber on the rear as well, so it will miss the edge.
Just drive it and listen for noise and look afterwards then drive harder.
Nothing to add here, and looks is clearly highly subjective but I personally find it hard to argue with this stance
Along with their natural beauty, add in the facts that the Cup IIs are lighter overall, much less costly with every tire replacement, and on the street give up nothing in handling to wider 18s (where the 18s will even add understeer, yeachh!). For me, the only 18s I'd consider swapping with are the MY 02; otherwise, Cup IIs just look so classic and right (when the car is at a "proper" height as it is here). Just sayin

I like the cup IIs and I agree with some of what you said. But the turbo twist for me just look much better. Just perfect for those lines of the car. I am keeping the Cup you never know, one day I might just mix it up again here and there
