Default 18" Sport Design Wheel help

Just bought a low mileage 2000 C2 coupe with 18" 10 spoke Sport Design Wheels. I removed the wheels to clean the inside and found what appeared to be spots of oxidation combined with brake dust on one of the back 10"wheels. I was able to scrape it off with a razor blade but still doesn't look good. Question, does Porsche paint or clear coat the inside of the wheels. If I was to sand it smooth what should I do to refinish.? Any wheel experts out there. Thanks Jim

You can always have them refinished to bring them back to new again...

Probably a good idea so they can have many years ahead of them... Remember they are a solid 15-years old now...

Let us know if we can help you.

Thanks for the offer but the fronts are flawless, just the inside facing the rotor on one wheel has that problem. Hope to fix myself. Is it clear coat, paint or something else?

Sonox wheel cleaner plus. It will clean the heck out of them in no time.

I googled Sonox, looks like good stuff. Not sure it will resolve these spots inside the wheels. They looked like raised oxidized patches mixed with brake dust. I used a razor blade to scrape them off. I'd love to know what the inside of the wheel is coated with. I would sand the spots and repaint or clear coat the inside.

Wurth makes matching paint and clear coat. I did some spot work on mine this winter and it's a perfect match.

I recently had mine refinished and did quite a bit of scrubbing prior to this. Since the back side of the wheel is just machined aluminum, it must have had clear coat on it originally. Mine are now powder coated with clear.

That's what these look like. I was thinking I could wire brush or sand and reclear coat. I was hoping someone knew.
