Just wondering how many of you have encountered this spacer on the left front wheel? All three of the 928's I've owned had these spacers (84 and two 78's). But, I've been told that they are not factory.
I'd not really given it much thought, since they were already on each car, figured it was just some issue they had with turning clearances in the wheel well or a build issue and it was a quick and easy fix. Laid a straight edge vertically across both front tires on the 78 last night and this spacer holds the wheel out farther by the exact thickness. So, it definitely wasn't added to correct a build issue, where the car was off center or something.
Mine does not and if it doesn't have a Porsche part number stamped on it I would say it is not factory. Really odd that three of yours all have it only on the left though.

I'll check for a number, never thought of that. Especially, weird that my 84 has one...the PO (owned 26 years) definitely wasn't the type to modify anything. Heck, believe it or not...it got it's first set of tires/brakes the year before I bought it in 2014.
Maybe my thread topic should have involved whether or not your 928 has a grenade launchers and anti aircraft gun and what's the best mounting system available or do you believe bb guns are a weapon of mass destruction since they hold multiple rounds of ammunition...to get more attention.
Yes, the studs are the same length on both sides. Lug nuts, six turns on the left and eight/half on the right (with spacer in place). Since they are not factory, they will be coming off next tire change.
Still unbelieveable...all three have this feature...weird.

Are you sure your wife isn't secretly trying to kill you? Or at least trying to make you insane or make you think you are going insane? That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard!
...BTW - NONE of my 17 have such a thing..yet...would be very odd if these started showing up on my cars and radios gone missing....
someone put those on the fronts to space you out,
its not ever recommended to use spacers on the front wheels of a 928 .
Your assertion that 3 of your cars have them means someone is playing a joke on you,
and you will soon find the 4th car you get with the same type of spacer,
since these were taken from some other car with a 5 X 130 bolt pattern

Perhaps the spacer is only on this one and you are experiencing "Deja Vue".
Sounds as though you have a close friend or relative with a wicked sense of humour.
Not sure I would be happy about leaving leaving something so oddball like that in there even if it has been in there all these years.
Also NOT a hubcentric spacer which I seriously doubt that Porsche would use...... very strange indeed.
Yes, when Mark at 928 International said they weren't factory...I figured you guys would have seen more 928's than most. However, it's still somewhat amazing...my cars have them.
are the studs longer
Studs are the same length.

Not sure if it would be considered a secret...I'm well aware.

One car (84) came from Canton, Ohio...the other two (78) were from Michigan (#225) and Canada (#613), but owned by the same gentlemen.

Already took the one off #225 and old blacky will loose its spacer this week (jacking it up to do a oil change and steering boot...result of car accidentally falling off lift...but now...after Alex's remarks...note to self..."must keep a closer eye on wife, when cars on hoist or cancel life insurance policy on myself"...lol.
Thank you, for all of the responses and comments. I'm putting this to rest and removing the last one and not using them again.
Your assertion that 3 of your cars have them means someone is playing a joke on you,
This would have to be one of the most elaborate jokes known to man...cars from two different states and one originally from another country.
and you will soon find the 4th car you get with the same type of spacer,
This may be the only solution...keep buying until I get one without.

This kind of crossed my mind, that maybe there was some belief years ago that it was necessary? I'd have to do a car facts on all three and see if they ever crossed paths.
Or it's you guys...that are trying to drive me crazy...and all of your cars have these too.
