This is what happens when someone doesn't put on the parking brake when your car is on a slight incline that leads to a hill with a telephone pole at the bottom.
Thank God no one got seriously hurt. My wife was in the passenger seat and told my son to get out and close the garage door. He did that without leaving the car in gear or with the parking brake on.
When my wife noticed the car started rolling, it was too late.
God knows how it curved down the driveway missing a wall, a telephone pole and many trees, but it made it across the street and hit a telephone pole.
My wife has bruised ribs.
My son is scared ****less of me.
Some of you on this list know I've had this car since 1990.
Damn Dan, big loss on that one. More importantly glad nobody was hurt.
On a related note, hope you updated your stated value insurance to reflect the rising prices of these early cars. No matter what, you should buy it back from the insurance company and part it out (assuming it cannot be fixed)
That sucks, Dan. So sorry to hear, but as others have said - very happy to hear that everyone is OK (even if your son's BP is currently sky-high fearing your wrath )
Hopefully, in addition to the liability insurance, you have a collision policy as well. If not, junior should start running now in order to get as much head start as possible!
Yet...(recommend son going into hiding...for several months)
Seriously, though...sorry to see this happen. Glad your wife and son were not injured seriously. To often you hear about someone getting out of a car and they get hung up by the door and drug/run-over.
