Arrrggghhh!
I backed the 996tt onto my 4 post lift yesterday to check out the transmission mount condition. I back it on because the front spoiler will hit if I drive it forward (was the same for my '99 C4 aero, except that I learned the hard way by cracking the spoiler on that car the first time I tried).
Anyhow, the good news is that my transmission mount looks perfect - looks like the 997 upgrade was done already (thanks PO!).
The bad news is that my right exhaust tip caught on the ramp as I was pulling off the lift.
I tried re-shaping it by hand and with a rubber mallet, but it's pretty strong stuff. I have a Fabspeed Gen 1 exhaust, so I am certain those are Fabspeed tips. Sold in pairs for $595 ($621.31 with ground shipping and handling). Ouch.

I'm not inclined to spend that kind of cash for something like an exhaust tip without putting on my MacGyver hat (I know we've got some fans here in the forum) and checking out alternatives. Looks like there are several similar alternatives out there for anywhere from $69 to $385. I found what looks like a good compromise between quality and price: $179.99 plus $34 for expedited shipping for a grand total of $213.99.
I'll take some pics side-by-side with the Fabspeeds once I get them in and post a review. It will be interesting to see if they stack up to the Fabspeeds in quality & appearance. Of course, only time will tell as to how well they will last. The Fabspeeds have held up well over what I'm assuming is about 13 years that they've been on the car.
In the meantime, If anyone has a right side Fabspeed quad exhaust tip, let me know. Or, assuming the replacements are decent, let me know if anyone needs a left side Fabspeed tip.

I had similar tips from Maxspeed-Motorsports on my 996 C4S. They looked good and I didn't have any quality or fitment issues with them. They are quite a bit less expensive than the Fabspeed part. Here's a link and a photo of the tips on my car:

Thanks Dennis. Those look nice. If the ones I've ordered don't work out, that's a good fall back.
I know that Fabspeed is a RL sponsor, so I don't want to bash them. But still, man, $595 for just exhaust tips seems excessive. By about double.

The bigger danger is that you've bent the entire engine. You'd be wise just trading the car for something like blk/blk 2000 cab. I'd even pay the shipping for both cars.

your tips actually look like oem sport tips/x50 tips. The oem one's are not perfectly round. There's a few interuptions in the circle.
fabspeed one's look exactly like ebay ones which come in chrome or black chrome.
OEM and fabspeed/ebay looks similar but if you put them next to each other...slightly different

Ouch, that sucks...as does the pricing these companies for asking for exhaust tips (for God's sake). Crazy.
