Default Spring rate for 996.2 C2 on OHLINS?

Hey guys,
I recently bought a set of OHLINS shocks, they are made for 996 C2 and fit my car but came without the springs.

I use my car as a daily driver but also track the car at rennsport regional events in Mont Tremblant every month and sometimes St-Eustache lapping as well.

So i am looking to find a balance for this hybrid use and know nothing about spring rate and such suspension specifications...

From what I read, I need 8'' & 12'', 2.250'', still debating on getting helper spring or not.

If anybody can give me a little help it would be appreciated!

Thanks!!

Can't help with the spring rates, but the Ohlins will transform your car (especially if you're coming from a stock setup).

Yes!! Or so I was told!

Along with all the suspension linkage that I need (and cost more than the shocks!) hahaha

I upgraded my suspension incrementally. Apart from it being easier on the wallet, it was nice to feel how much each individual component contributed to the improved handling of my car.

I would hit up the GT3 and Cup Car forums to get some kind of baseline, not to mention maybe getting a deal on second hand springs those guys no longer need. I know the guys with the expensive setups like triple adjustable Motons and such tend to never be satisfied and always upgrading their springs.

As for Mont Tremblant, I would just be cautious and make sure you're not over-sprung on that track as I know it has a couple bumps that have been known to upset a lot of cars mid-corner that are stiffly sprung.

~550F and ~700R seems to be a good street/track combo.

If more serious and doing quite a few track events then 700/900.

Most hardcore will be closer to 800/1000.

This is just a general reference from recent trends.

Thanks for your input ^^

Since I am driving the car almost everyday on our DISASTROUS roads, I don't think i can go very stiff unfortunately... So the cup setup will definitely be too much for my use. 550F is what I read and the rear varies 700-850.. Hmm

Yes that is a good point, although some parts are necessary for the install, like top plates/camber plates and drop links that didnt come with my shocks.

In contrast, stock 996 GT3 spring rates are 228 lb/in (40N/mm) front, 543 lb/in (95N/mm) rear (which I find brutal in and around Montreal).

Right now I have Conti extreme contact DW. About 2-3 events left in them.

Will use PSS after this set is done.

295/18 rear and 235F

Contact ohlins, tell them what you have, what you want and they will tell you which spring rate to use. I ran ohlins extensively on my road race bikes and the were always a help

This is what I was able to find for C4S/TT. Should be somewhat relevant for C2/C4 applications:

Spring Rates for all C4S/TT Options
