First order of business is relocating the power mirror switch to the lower door pocket. Using cast acrylic(for rigidity) we machined a housing and finished it in a factory-matched satin black coating.

Don't give me too much credit, I thought about saying "that's like asking a fat chick how much she weighs. You know it's a lot, but the actual number doesn't really matter."

Mirror switch relocation and sail panel modification were both done over the weekend. Next up is the subwoofer enclosure!

Thanks MM951!

This morning we finished up the doors. Drilled out the rivets for the factory driver and replaced them with machine hardware with the new adaptors we built.

Acoustics are crucial when it comes to good response, so we used a bit of butyl-based damping to cut down on resonance and added a full layer of mass loaded vinyl to reject road noise and isolate the plastic door panel from the metal skin.

Stunning work, can't wait to see the sub enclosure work. I read about the head unit you selected, seems very limited in terms of sources. Got me thinking that owner cannot use a drive or old school iPod to get higher resolution digital source files? Won't that be limiting for a system of this stature?

It all depends on your personal preference. Most people are more concerned with the convenience of iPhone connection than they are with playing a hard drive filled with FLAC files. You can still stream lossless from Tidal and play ALAC through the iTunes interface.

Thanks, it's actually done as of yesterday afternoon. Just need to get the photos off the camera later today.

Alright, here's the start of the subwoofer enclosure. It's built out of Baltic Birch to keep it both lightweight and acoustically sound. There's a lot going on here that will probably make more sense once I get the finished pictures later today.

Subwoofer enclosure is almost finished up now. The mounting system we machined uses the factory studs and nuts for the Bose subwoofer, so no new holes were drilled.

Just got the enclosure fit and bolted in place. Now we're going to start on the "stealth" cover for the cargo area.
