I pulled off the driver's side wheel today, to get a closer look at an intact barrel connector bracket, so I could see if it could possibly be the same as the replacements I have. My conclusion is that...I don't see how. It was hard to get pics but here's what I have:

Wheel off, looking down at the top of the barrel connector. You can see the part of the bracket that the clamshell holder is attached to.

Looking up at the bracket...part holding the clamshell/barrel connector is up and slightly left of center. Bracket extends down, and also along the top of the picture to the right.

My effort to find WTF I currently have on my car so I can get the proper replacement continues. Here is what PET shows for an '86, but I really don't understand the diagram. Does a specific car have 13, 13a, 15 and 15a? Does it have simply 13 and 15 or 13a and 15a? Just one of the four? As you can see from the pictures I posted previously, I have received (I actually have several now lol) bracket 15a, but unless I am blind, I simply do not see that on my car. I know it would probably be clearer if I had done as suggested and removed the disc and caliper but I'm trying not to do that before I get the parts to replace. At any rate, understanding this diagram will help, I think.

Note that that damn 15a bracket is also on later year pages, but again...does not appear to be on my car.
