Default Center vent microswitch

While fixing a problem with the interior cabin sensor I tested the microswitch in the center vent and found its stuck in permanently on position telling the rest of the system that the vent is closed even if I have the vent open.
What effect does this have on the rest of the system? Just my curiosity I guess.
I have a new switch to replace it.
Thanks.

It will close the 'comb' flap and push air to door, floor or defrost.

Ivan - Can you post a photo or describe where this micro switch is located? I just replaced my comb flap and footwell flap actuator diaphragms over the past few days. I'd like to check this before reinstalling the console.

IIRC on my 1990 it also switches the center output to cool air once the cabin is near the set temp. Thus means the driver and passenger get cool air in their faces even though the cabin is being heated. Nice feature when my wife is feeling a little over-heated and slightly motion sick.

Does anyone have a pic of the underside of the console for mounting of this micro switch?
I'm putting my console back together and the switch and all the other moving parts were bagged up, 3 years ago

Thank you,

Dave

Thank you Gomez123, that is almost what I'm looking for however I think that is an earlier model than MY86,
My switch sits inside like in the pic in post #4
I need a pic of how the micro switch is mounted to the console, I think I have a broken tab for the mounting bolt, and need to make a new mount.

Thanks again for the assist

Dave

Update, I was able to use a screw and fasten the switch mech down to the vent, worked out great.

Thanks again,

Dave
