OT: Driving in Alberta, Calgary to Fernie
Flying in for March break with the family to do some skiing in Fernie BC.
We will be renting a SUV to take all the stuff with us.
Couple Questions.... Google Maps says CIA to Fernie is 3h48mins via Hwy 2a/22/33/Crowsnest Pass.
In Ontario, I can usually shave 10-15% off google times.
In Alberta/BC how fast can you go on those hwys before u draw undue attention? 10kph over? 15? 20kph?
I may bring my STi RD with me.....

In BC we normally get away with 10k and sometimes up to 15k. Depends on the Officer's mood. I think radar detectors are illegal in Alberta. They are not illegal in BC.

Thx. On our divided roads, we usually get away with 15-20kph over.
On our county hiways which are posted 80 or 90kph, it's often safe to go 15 over....
but for the most part, we have straight, boring roads.
Thx,
Peter

I don't think you'd get away with 20k over in BC too many places. Also, at 40k over they can and often do seize the car. Real PIA to get it back and very expensive as you're repsonsible for towing and storage. Sometimes, if speed too high or "racing" involved they've sold the cars.
