Not out of the woods yet. Went to see Andrew at WeTune for an alignment and came out an hour or so later with no alignment and a grocery list!

The True Cost of False Economy
Nice car, lovely colour scheme.
Sounds like you understand the need for reliability....at all costs.
I once met a fellow in our DE activity, who decided to 'save $$$', and sold his 996 C4S, fearing exhorbitant maintenance costs. He assumed that 944 parts would be less expensive, and he bought a well used 944 Turbo S, completely modified by a rich racer in Florida.
It had languished in the sun for a few years, before his purchase of it, and EVERY rubber part was brittle and cracking! Seals, bearings, and hoses were constantly bursting and leaking, though he would change ONLY what was required each time. Of course, he would never proactively replace ALL of the hoses with a modern set of urethane hoses. He was saving money!
On every DE day, he would encounter a terminal problem in his first session on track, thus forfeiting his fees, and thrusting him into a depression of shame.
Needless to say, he lost his shirt on the deal, and bitter and humiliated, he sold the car at a great loss, giving up the joy of DE days. He is still jealous and resentful, and we no longer speak to each other.
He eventually bought an old Mercedes 560SL, and tools around the countryside. I assume it is reliable enough to get from gas station to gas station.
