For everyday use i put Shell 91 octane as it has no ethanol and for track weekends i use Petro Canada 94 octane ...
Either one is good as long as it doesn't contain ethanol !
Cheers !

Ultra 94 DOES contain ethanol up to 10%:
http://retail.petro-canada.ca/en/ind...2056.aspx#Does Ultra 94 contain ethanol? Does Petro-Canada still offer an ethanol-free gasoline?
I use vpower as it has no ethanol. Also ethanol produces less power than gasoline, so the power equivance of vpower 91 and ultra 94 is not really that much.
I don't have problems with it in either my modified 911 2.7 engine, or a modified 951 turbo. That said if I am going to run the 951 hard & long at CMP I will stop at the Ultramar in Arnprior and fill up with 98 race gas. Can't say I notice a difference, but I hate dealing with detenation carnage.
Here is a good article on the topic:

Not an expert, but the V-Power 91 is probably best for all around use. A modernish DME will retard the timing if necessary to compensate for the lower octane than specd,
I use the 94 (with ethanol) for track only. In the heat of summer, you are not going to know about detonation issues until it's too late. Fill up, burn it (repeat as necessary), then revet back to V-Power when you are done!

So latest from track talk; source was Shellbourne fuels. Shell 91 does contain ethanol and the pumps have not been updated yet to reflect that they do. They were forced to comply with Canadian fuel rules that mandate that ethanol be used in all their gasoline. They had that commercial campaign with the F1 race car before saying it didn't contain ethanol and have been lying to us for quite some time.

These guys claim to maintain a list although they also say that Cantire and Costco sell ethanol free gas.
