Calabogie noise rules
I am hoping one of you gentlemen may be able to help me. I am going to do a few track days at Calabogie this year. After reading all your posts, I figure I have to get up there.
I have a 997.2 with a gundo hack. Would I have any issue with the decibel levels\ limit?

CMP is 92 DB I believe. I have no problems with my 911 or 951 which are both equiped with custom exhaust/mufflers. If you have an Iphone, go to Itunes and purchase the DB meter app. You can test your car with that. It is pretty accurate.

Calabogie is 102 dB measured 15 feet from the rear of the car. You should have no trouble with a Gundo hack exhaust. On site you'll pass a sound test, rev to 2/3rd red line while they measure.
FWIW I'm the CI of the Rennsport region and CMP is one of our home tracks.
Mont Tremblant is 92 dB measured at 50 feet and meeting sound there is harder than at CMP. A 997 GT3 barely makes it with a stock exhaust. With an aftermarket pipe .. not so much.

I am going to measure the decibel level at a place in Toronto next week, just to make sure.
Since I plan on doing an event with Rennsport, I might as well figure if I can pass the test at LCMT as well before getting out there.

As Bob said, LCMT is harder to pass, particularly because it's measured at trackside - usually at a place where you're beyond 2/3 of red line. You can't duplicate that while parked. I have to change mufflers for LCMT, while I'm fine at CMP - 88 dB at 2/3 red line while stationery, but 93 dB at 6000 rpm on track. If you run into a problem, you can always short shift near the sound meter - once you find him! Good luck!

Tremblant has the DB police who walks around the track and takes readings ...Worse part is that you never know where the guy is going to be !
One of our guys had to go to the local garage in town last Summer to have some "godawful" downpipes made and installed on his 996 in order to continue the weekend ...

I pass at both tracks with Supercups on the 993, which is kind of hard to believe. I think frequency has a lot to do with it. Some cars with a higher pitch dont sound as loud but in fact are.
I have a set of turndowns, just in case.

Interesting stuff. Being the overthinker that I am, how do these downpipes work, how easy are they to attach or change and where would one be able to purchase said downpipes?

there; any shop can make you a set. I had fabspeed catbypass with stock mufflers and i was busting at tremblant.
