Speeding ticket
Anyone contest and win?
I asked to see the radar to prove the speed and the officer(arsehole) declined.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Well, it has been a while since I contested one.. but I have won against them
I had a court date set, but was going to be out of town on business. I was told I could not get it changed unless I had someone in court representing me. I sent my buddy down, who told the judge. The cop was there (they apparently book all their court cases at the same time), and the judge gave me a new date.. Now I was the only ticket for that cop on my new date. Not suprisingly, he thought it was a waste of time and did not show up, so I got off.. Did this again on my next ticket a few years later, and got off again. Have not had a ticket in many years since then, though

Not sure how it works in Quebec but in Ontario you can set a date for disclosure. You can talk to the crown and should get the officer notes, there should be a s/n for the radar, when and how it was tested, (depending on the type of radar and if the opperator was moving or not at the time).
If you feel you are innocent fight it for shure...If you think they got ya it still doesn't hurt to try and get the ticket lowered.
If it is big enough talk to a lawyer...they have better access to negotiate.

Actualy i have a lawyer in Montreal that does only that for me.
Simple 100$ a point she save me and often the ticket goes down also so it is almost free.... Sometime she says nogo cant do depending where and what but most of the time, it is very good.
ex:
a 240$ ticket with 3 point endup a 120 ticket with 1 point
a 540 ticket with 5 points goes down to 220 and 2 points
a 140 with 3 point goes away..... basickly she makes deal not to go in front of the judge, the gov lawyer dont want to go to court

For as long as I can remember you have the right to visually verify the radar unit, unless of course another officer took the reading elsewhere and radioed to an intercepting officer; thus making it near impossible for you to verify due to safety concerns.
Good luck just the same.

Must have been our famous SQ provincial police/army wannabe thugs. I'm sure they take courses on how to be arrogant with motorists.

How these "law men" sleep at night, hiding behind poles and between buildings to ticket people, beats the hell out of me.
Then they wonder why people hate them
