Anybody have an engine lift/leveler in Ottawa area?
I am trying to avoid spending $400 on a lift when I am sure there is one somewhere out there collecting dust that I could borrow. I have to drop a 951 engine (gently).
Anybody able to help?

Thanks Phil, I'll think about it. As it stands if there isn't one in Ottawa I think i might buy one at Princess Auto and then sell it. Although with the tranny lift... that might be helpful to support the cross member.
I'll get back to you. as usual it is a balance between time & money, of which I have niether!

I am dropping it from the bottom, but if I asked to borrow an "engine drop", nobody would know what I was talking about ;-)
Unfortunately you still need the "lift" to move the engine forward and then lower it. I'll probably end up buying one and then selling it. Thought of renting but its a PITA to pick up and return twice, and would probably run me well over a hundred by the time I was done.
I am just about ready to "drop", but getting serious grief from one stupid cross-over to turbo bolt. There is always at least one...

While I am at it, why remove the x-member and then the engine? seems easier to drop both and separate them out of the car.

got my lift. Princess Auto had one on sale for $150. Problem was it was not very good. and "box 2 of 2" never showed up from China, so it was missing legs. They took pity on me and gave me a super deal on one of thier good ones!
