That picture was taken at an Auto-X with CADL (Club Automobile Des Laurentides) but I did also go once with rennsport.
CADL organised an Auto-X this summer in Ste-Croix with people from Quebec but I couldn't go. Where you there?

I did a lot of CADL events in the 80's and 90's, and for every Montreal competitors I was the man to kill !!! LOLLL
But I quit doing autoX events after I won the Quebec overall championship for the 6th time in 1994...I ran a 944 N/A in the Canadian championship in 1986 but the course was fast with long smooth curves and I got creamed by the V8's ( z/28 - Mustang 5.0 - Trans-Am ) and I finished 6th out of 20 some competitors.... Next summer I want to try the 944 again on a "normal" course but with the Pirelli's, not with R compound. We'll have to keep in touch !

The way the Quebec championship worked in these days was near perfect : it was run either on a two day weekend or on three different events over the summer. You accumulated points in your class (percentage, first in class has 100%, the others have their time divided by the fastest time in class) and then you came up with around 10 different class winners in the end. Then the interesting part : to determine the overall champion the organizer had to supply a car in which the class winners would do two or three runs ( start order with a draw) and the fastest run was the overall champion ! The car had to be different from what the "potential" class winners were driving to make it fair for everybody.
This is what I won 6 times. I have been gifted with the ability to go fast with any car right away. 90% of the time I tried somebody else's car I would beat his time...
I won my class 8 times in the Quebec championship, each time in a "stock" class. I did it twice with an '84 Innocenti 3 cylinder, once in an '86 MR2, once in an '88 Tercel, twice with my beloved '81 Fiat X-1/9, once in a '93 Geo Storm and once in an 86 Audi Coupe.
In the Canadian Championship I've been on the podium in class 4 times out of 6 tries. In 1990 I won D-Stock in my X-1/9.
The Porsche was nice but it leaned on the tire shoulders too much, not good for the long fast curves...

Really impressive history I think they still do that to determine the overall champion. I wasn't there this year but last year it was in a souped up Echo.
CADL is very active and very competitive, In my class I get destroyed consitently with the 944 I don't mind, I do this to have fun.
In the below image, that black BMW behind me is simply unbeatable, the owner leaning on the car has won countless times.
