Angry Can you guys help me out here.....

Ok guys/galls I need your help and advice.

My 996 has just clocked 30,000 miles and it's been great up to a few months back. I took it in for its regular service to the local delaer and found out that my RMS was naff. So after a lot of haggling, PUK agreed to fix it under their good will scheme but still had me contribute 230 squid to labour costs! The car is out of warranty.
But now they told me my gearbox is winning in 1st and 2nd. The car has been treated like a baby and has had a FPSH. It's never been tracked and well apart from me sticking my foot down every now and then (like most of do) I have had it serviced at the slightest creak. But PUK have decided that they won't fix/replace the gearbox under warranty or via their good will scheme. Basically, they said "your on yer own pal!".

I find it unbelievable that a car that costs upwards of 60 grand can suffer engine and gearbox problems at only 30,000 miles. But I find it even more amazing that the car is only 3 years old and they won't fix the problems under warranty.

I am in San Francisco on business at the mo and I popped into a local dealer here and explained my predicament to see their reaction. They said that if the car was here they would have these problems put right under warranty or good-will without question on a 996 with such low mileage and barely 3 years old. They can't understand what PUK are playing at. They suggested I get the help of UK rennlisters maybe.

So, I wanted to know if you guys can suggest anything I can do about this. Maybe I could write to someone in Germany but who? Can PCGB help out?
Can we club together and beat up PUK?
any suggestions would be welcome. I am at loose ends with this issue now. I love the car but the reliability and the backup service is making me think that I will think twice about buying another porker. Like most of you I spent my very last penny on this dream car but the thought of forking out big time on a new gearbox frightens the hell out of me.

Cheers and thanx in advance,

Hi Scouser,
I think a good start would be with Porsche Customer Service in Reading. Thats where I went when I was not happy with the rubbish dealer. I spoke to a woman called Anna Keeler who sorted my problem out. It probably is going to cost you something but maybe if you can get the customer service team on your side they might help.
If you mention the problems you are having whilst looking at a GT2 maybe this might help to get them to see sense?
Anyway, good luck and let us know how you get on.
Cheers

I also suggest talking to someone at Reading.

For some reason UK 'service' and warranty lags way behind the USA. The US dealers almost fall over themselves to sort problems.

Whilst in the UK - its as if you had asked them to pay off your mortgage.
Good luck.
Tito.

Thanks for the responses guys. However, I should have mentioned that the issues I have are *with* Reading. That is, I have been talking to them via Porsche Mann Island in Liverpool. As it happens, I can't fault the folks at Mann Island, they have been real sympathetic and have pushed like mad to get both the RMS and the gearbox (oh and I forgot to mention the header tank too) all done under the PUK goodwill scheeme. But alas Reading knocked it all back bar the RMS (but I had to even contribute to that). I now need to go above these guys and go straight to Germany. I am sure they will see things right. But I just need to know who to contact.

cheers

Scouser,
If you contact Adrian over on the 964 board I think he may know who you should contact in Germany.

Scouser

Why not go back to the importer of the country from which your Porsche was originally sourced?

K8 MAL,
Hmmm...... not sure where your going with this.
I took it to (PUK) Porsche UK. The car was built in Germany so I guess PUK
imported it ;-) If you read my post, the problems I am having is with PUK.
They won't fix the gearbox under their good will scheme.
I am after suggestions on what I can do next.
