Lightbulb Ideas for UK section?

Hi Guys,

We should use this section to identify some good suppliers, cheap sources, scare stories about OPC, etc. What do you think? I'll start the ball rolling with some good suppliers that I have dealt with. Can we comment on dodgy ones as well or might we get sued?

Cheers,

David

You can't get sued for telling the truth.

East London Porsche Centre gave me really terrible service - avoid like the plague! There, I said it

Default BAD OPCs

NOTTINGHAM............really can't say just how un-helpful they have been to several PCGB members not just me.

SOLIHULL......when they opened they didn't seem to know much about boxsters, this ended up costing me money.
im told they have improved greatly and are now very helpful, but it will take a lot to get me to trust them again.

Default GOOD OPCs

SUTTON COLDFIELD...always gone out of the way to help. can't fault them.
even gave my 10% off my last service for being a PCGB member.

SWINDON...always been very helpful.

NEWCASTLE..the tops 10/10. helped me out of a fix while on holiday and didn't charge me a bean.

JZ Machtech in London. Spent £6600 on engine rebuild, did job on time, for quoted price and car has driven faultlessly since. Very passionate about Porsche and had about 50 Porsche cars there last time I went. Its 200 miles from where I live. I wouldnt bother with ANY of the sh***hawks in the North West. I WILL name them if requested.

Wink

As we are naming names...

OPC Colchester was crap with my car and most of the local Porsche Club members had similar horror stories. However, that was a few years ago so they may have improved.

Autostrasse and JZ Machtech are tops - very good.

911 Virgin sold me a very straight car which has proven to be very good mechanically. However, I did need to do a fair bit of paintwork to tidy it up. They would probably argue that I got it for a fair price which I would agree with. They are a bit eccentric to deal with but generally seem honest, well meaning and helpful.

Graham - fully agree with you on the comments about East London Porsche...

No probs with Colchester at all - I think they'er rather good. Had a long chat with Andy Welsh there the last time I was in and he enthused about 993s and how he disliked the 996 with a vengeance - how cool is that?
