928 Speedo and MPG Gauge Intermittent
Hi
This starts off as the old speedo not working question but I have a 1982 928 with the MPG gauge also.
It's the usual story of the speedo working perfectly and then going to zero without warning, and then maybe later in the journey coming to life again.
There is some excellent advice on this site from people about curing the speedo fault (firstly check the 4-pin connector in the boot, the takeout the pod and clean connections on the large PCB etc).
With My 928, when the speedo goes off, it usually takes the MPG gauge with it too and later they both come back on together. Occasionally when the speedo dies. the MPG gauge drops to a reading of say 5mpg when I'm on a motorway knowing that my fuel consumption is better.
I've still got the original 4-pin connector in the spare tyre well (but connections cleaned and no corrosion etc).
Before I start to attempt to trace and rectify things, is there anyone out there who had the same simultaneous speedo & MPG gauge issue and what was the cure?
