First time doing this trip. Appreciate any advice about where to stay, what to do, where to eat, what to avoid, etc. Currently thinking of picking up auto-train in Florida to Virginia/D.C. in mid-October. Need to fill in plan from there, so a lot of blank spaces! Thanks

South East? You mean North East....there is absolutely nothing nice to see in South East Florida in autumn other than the fantastic weather.

Ive taken the auto train before from Sanford to Virginia. Get the cabin. Dont take your Porsche as the drivers that load and unload, to put in mildly, are incompetent and unable to drive any car without damaging it.

I wont ever do it again.
