S. FL - Sunday drive to Punta Gorda, FL (Jan 17)
I want to pass along a Sunday drive being planned by a few guys in S. FL.
A few of us are going to drive out to Punta Gorda this Sunday, January 17th.
The plan is a drive to MUSCLE CAR CITY in Punta Gorda - just north of Ft. Myers. Web site is www.musclecarcity.net.
This should be a very exciting trip as we will be traveling through the back roads of Florida many have never been on or don't even know exist. With names like Snake Road, hwy 29, Hwy 80, Hwy 174 and others this should prove to be a pleasurable drive.
This will be a full-day event, as the trip will be approximately 150 miles/about 3 hours (one-way). Return trip back to Broward County will most likely be I-75 through Alligator Alley.
Muscle City is Punta Gorda's latest attraction featuring Rick Trewrgy's collection of almost 200 muscle cars which he stores in an former Wall Mart store consisting 99,000 square feet of floor space. Seeing is believing as all cars are in impeccable condition and focus is on the best cars of the 60's and 70's.
There is a cafe in the facilities and it would be nice to patronize their diner. The cost of admission is $10.00 and lunch is on own.
Meeting point:
We plan to caravan out at 8:00am from the Mobil1 Lube Express on the SE corner of State Road 84 and Weston Road just south of Markham Park.
