Im a paying rennlist member and have been for many years.

For some reason today video ads started playing on my screen while I was on rennlist. I use a mac pro laptop and usually use Safari as my browser. These ads now start with music - which is incredibly annoying.

Are you experiencing these on the homepage or the forums? Please try and post the URL of the ad unit in this thread and I will have it taken down if it's in the forum.

In the forums. On every page. One just started as I started typing this.

You know whats fun? When there's one at the top and one at the bottom and both start and play different audio.

WTF? If i click on the video I get transferred to that companys page. I don't want that.

I sincerely apologize for the slow response, I was off the grid from Friday morning until late last evening.

Could you please post some screenshots of the ad units for me? I can't replicate, and we should not be presenting any logged-in member with stuff like that. It is possible people who browse while logged-out may.

Rob - today I was on the 997 forum and a "Chuck Shumer" ad started - he's running for congress in NY. Came out of nowhere. Trying to get a screenshot now. Why does this keep happening?

Can you please capture full screenshots of the entire screen for me? I also need the URL of the page you saw the ad unit, and ideally the click through URL of the ad itself (you can get this by right clicking on the ad unit and choosing 'copy link'.

I'm not experiencing the same issue, and I'm sure we'd be hearing from more members if it was widespread, so I am thinking as a first step you should clear out all of your Rennlist cookies from your browser and also clear the cache, then log back in and see if things improve.

I dont have the time to screen shot the whole page today. Its a mac laptop. Using safari. The url is rennlist.com. The ads come up randomly depending on which part of the message boards im on. Sometimes in 997. Sometimes in racing and drivers ed. Sometimes in off topic. Its always the ad at the bottom of the screen It auto plays and the audio starts. Now its all ads for elections (even better!!!). I have cleared my cashe and logged back in. Sometimes the ads are stills- in which case its all fine. But when its video- its a problem.
Also -the video plays in a small screen so you cant even see it!!

Anything you can do to help would be great. Would hate to cancel my subscription.

Very off, I am also running a Mac and Safari, no ads. Do you have adblock? I do and it works!

Mute your computer. I only unmute my computer when there is something I specifically want to listen to.

That, and an ad-blocker, like BTO said.
