David,

I use Photoshop to reduce image size and file size on my Mac. If you're on a PC, I'm guessing there has to be some sort of file management in Word or Publisher.

David,
Click on the following icon:

Then simply drop in the URL of the image you are supplying (naturally the image needs to be hosted somewhere). I tend to reduce mine to somewhere around 700 x 600 K or so. If the image comes in too big, I go back to my image hosting site and simply reduce it by 75% or 50% (as needed).

I hope that did not add confusion

Mark: Good morning!

You can reduce size of image to 640 x 480.

Either save as a jpg and reduce the quality (increase the compression) or save a a gif as they take up less space.

Do you mean pixel width/height or file size in kb?

Click "File -> Save as"
Format "JPEG"
Click "Save"
Below the Cancel button, tick to select "Preview"
Under Image Options use the slider to reduce (right to left) from "large file" to "small file"
as you move the slider, at the bottom of the dialog box it shows the resultant file size in kb

Hope this helps.
