Kevin,

I think you mean an 'avatar', that is a picture which appears with your details at the left of each post.

Click on 'User CP', 'Edit Avatar'. At the bottom of that page, you will see 'Upload an Avatar from your Computer'...

Note that the picture must not be larger than 200 x 200 pixels and 19.5kb.

Edit - I think you did it while I was typing the reply!
