I'm a little bleak on the history, but here's a little.

Many years ago, Rennlist founder John D was doing a charity event, and offered Lifetime memberships. Then evey once in a while, a Mod, would give Lifetime to a Rennlister who did something "extraordinary". But that hasn't been done in several years that I remember.
