Recently my browser (Chrome) shows all threads as one page rather than pagination with page numbers shown. This is a real pain for me, especially in long threads. I tried changing settings to first 20 posts to a page and then 10 posts to a page. No change. I cleared my cache - again, no change.

You can disable infinite scroll in your userCP/options page:
