It seems like a bad idea to use the actual site as an alpha testing platform for all changes. Why not set up a virtual server and see just how many things the "improvements" break on the site before implementing them?

^this. If you're making/testing code changes IN PRODUCTION you won't last in the computer/tech business too long.

So why in the name of Christ did you decide to do anything with it at all? Who was complaining that it was broken? Sorry IB, you guys are not competent.[I tried to quote you but of course that button does not work for me - your post does not show in my post]

We did changed version number and we changed the way opting out of infinite scroll/related threads works from being cookie based, to being in your userCP here: https://rennlist.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions. This means the settings are respected across devices/sessions. Unfortunately when we did this, somehow it corrupted everyone's existing Rennlist cookies, which is why we all had to log back in.
If you are having login issues, please delete your cookies and log back in, ensuring to check the remember me box.
Things have not been very smooth lately, I can do nothing other than apologize for that.

Alas, it isn't just here. New and improved over at Audi too, and just as annoying.

What we are seeing is pervasive in the industry. The continual need for improvement to the point of "jumping the shark".
Look at the latest iPhone as an example. The original one was "revolutionary". A few iterations later it was perfected. Now, they just throw more "features" that no one wants on it in hopes of increasing market share and keeping themselves employed. In reality, that market is mature and is waiting on the next "revolutionary" breakthrough.
Quit d!cking with the forum. It was fine and no one was complaining. These latest changes are not "improvements' in any sense of the word.

While you are paying attention to this thread, on mobile, how the heck do I go into a thread and automatically get to first unread post? No matter where I tap it takes me to the first post then I have to click unread which sucks. This just started the other week. I'm on Android using Mozilla.

My routine to begin perusing RL is to click on User CP in the top left corner.
This opens a window to subscribed rhreads.
Click on the hread and then in upper left is the View First unread
BTW, this is using an iPad with latest update.
I am not a computer person being educated in an analog world.
