Default Boxster Hood Locked After Battery Died

This has happened many times before and I've used the cig lighter to apply 12V by using a charger and got in. This time its not working.
Is there a certain sequence or something I need to do additionally to pop the hood.

I apologize in advance because I don't use forums often but I'm desperate to get my Boxster runnning again. It's a 2000 with 14k miles. I bought it then had triplets so haven't used it much. They are 18 now, so time to get it running again.

Thank you,
Sue
